Life Story for Connie (nee Fitzsimmons) Upcott

Connie, 70, fell asleep and didn’t wake up, just as she had hoped would happen, on April 14, 2019. She was surrounded by her family. Connie was the beloved wife of David to whom she was married for 42 years. She is also survived by her daughter Stephanie and the light of her life, grandson Kameron. Connie was predeceased by her parents Jack and Anne Fitzsimmons. She was the loving daughter-in-law of Madge and Bob Upcott (2001). Connie’s siblings, Mary (Terri) Rutherford, Tim, Martin and Michael Fitzsimmons will miss her dearly, as will her nieces and nephews Sarah, Geoff, Ryan, Ray and Shannon. Goldendoodle Cardy has lost her best friend.

Connie worked over 30 years for Service Canada, the last 12 of which she was the P.S.A.C. Union president. Ever the consummate hostess and gourmet cook, she loved to entertain friends and family. A voracious reader, Connie was most relaxed standing waist deep in the pool with her book on the deck or basking in the sun on a lounger. She loved to travel. Aruban beaches and European museums or castles brought her much pleasure. Until she got sick, Connie was a fixture at the gym and enjoyed the companionship of her swimming ladies and checking out area restaurants with her Red Hat friends.

Cremation has occurred as per Connie’s wishes. The family is grateful for all the care provided by the Hospice team and nurses Rochelle and Justin. If you so desire, donations in Connie’s name to Hospice or the Humane Society would be appreciated.

Memorial visitation Tuesday, April 23, 2019 from 11:00 a.m. until the time of a small tribute at 1:00 p.m. at Families First, 585 Sandwich St. S., Amherstburg, 519-969-5841.
