Dear Bates family and friends,

We, as LDSS Student Council, would like to demonstrate our support in these trying times. We understand that Mark Bates was more than just staff member at our school. He was a husband, and loving family member to all those around him. Although he had already retired, he still held his place in the heart of the school for all his hard work and dedication. Many of the students who were lucky enough to be taught by him have expressed their greatest sympathies, which stands as a testament to the impact he had on our school community during his time spent as a teacher. He was a long time friend to much of the staff at our school, and the news of Mark Bates’ passing resonated within the classrooms. We are truly sorry for your loss and wish the best for the Bates family. Thank you for the love and support you provided him all these years, which allowed him to be such a blessing in our school community.

Mr. Bates was an amazing teacher and has made a great impact on his students lives. He will be missed by so many! My condolences to his family and friends. May God be with you.

We are deeply saddened to hear of Mark’s sudden passing. I taught with Mark at LDSS for almost 25 years; he was always available to assist students and his colleagues when asked. Mark will be missed! He was a genuine big hearted man.
