Obituary for Silvano Mion

Passed away peacefully at the age of 92 on April 11, 2019. Loving husband for 57 years to the late Luisa Mion. Cherished father of the late Elio and Lino, survived by his daughter-in-law Roselyn Kretowski. Brother of the late Marino and late wife Maria Mion of Windsor, and the late Laura, Liliana, Elide and Eda of Italy. Cherished companion of Angela Cortese. Step-father to Dr. Leonardo Cortese and wife Mary-Lou, the late Antonietta Guidolin and husband John, John Cortese and wife Josie. He will be sadly missed by Joseph, Angela, Martina, Sarah and Luca. Silvano will be remembered by many nieces and nephews, extended family and friends.

He worked at the Ford Motor Company from February 1967 until an industrial accident forced him to retire. During his retirement Silvano created artwork on copper foil and wrote poetry. In 2000, he had a book published Le Memorie di un Emigrante Alpino. Silvano was a proud member of the Alpini, the Fogolar Furlan Club, the Giovanni Caboto Club, and was conferred the honour of Cavaliere from the Italian government. He was gentle, kind, generous, and patient. Above all else, Silvano loved spending time and sharing a nice meal and a glass of wine with his family.

Sincere appreciation for the exceptional care to Dr. Pizzuti, the medical and nursing staff of the Windsor Regional Hospital-Metropolitan Campus and Hôtel-Dieu Grace Healthcare-Complex Care.

Donations to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or Italian Handicapable Association would be appreciated by the family.
